Victorian Parlor Chair

What a find!  This chair originally belonged to a gentleman who inherited it from his grandmother.  It had been with his family since the 1930's. It's an oversized chair and having just moved into a small apartment, meant parting ways with it.  When I first saw it, I loved it and left with the promise to give her a new look and a good home.  For this classic piece, I decided to give  it a crisp and clean look with this off white herringbone fabric.  An elegant rope trimming was then added to complete this project. Accessorizing will be easy to do with it's neutral colors. This Victorian Carved Parlor Chair or Lady Chair features all the artisanship you would expect in such work of art.

Spanish Armchair

One of my favorite hotels and casinos in Las Vegas is the Green Valley Spa and Resort in Henderson, Nevada.   It's  a great home away from home and I believe is one of the best kept secrets of Vegas.  I've always been fascinated with an armchair very similar to this, which is available in the guest rooms, suites and throughout the lobby areas.  It's gorgeous and grand!  That inspired me to jump on the opportunity to work on this piece.  It's a beautifully carved armchair.  The details distinguishes this Spanish style chair.  I took it apart, gave it a brown mahogany finish and reupholstered it in a khaki canvas fabric.  Keeping the fabric simply and one color allows the carving and details to stand out.

Cane Wing Back Chair

What a great Craigslist find.  A modern interpretation of the traditional Wing back Chair. It's original color was light brown and had a pink upholstery with cat hair all over.  Once home, I cleaned it up, and went to work on it.  I took it apart, sanded it down, made a mess in my husbands garage, and gave it a new look.  I couldn't resist this brown mahogany finish.  For the upholstery, I chose to keep it simple to an off white linen fabric.  It's frame is sturdy and what a FABULOUS piece!

USES IN THE HOME:

Like the earliest versions, the wing back chair is still often used in front of the fireplace in a living room or den.  A pair of these creates a cozy seating area with a small table between them. Wing back chairs are ideal in a master bedroom and also large guest rooms.

Mid Century Chair - Rethink.Restyle.Reinvent

I have always been a fan of this style of chair.  All of my furniture is dark colored wood and I was nervous about going lighter.  In retrospect, I'm very happy I did.  The frame is finished in white which shows off the lines and angles.  The patterns are small, it's fun and neutral and it's gives it a little bit of a pop!

Interior Ideas

I have a few potted trees and flowers throughout our home. These are my most recent projects.  I love the splash of color it provides to our dining and living room area.

Interior Ideas

I  was browsing through a very posh store in Melrose, CA and fell in love with a particular dining chair. The retail price was $1720.I just loved the pattern and color and absolutely wanted it in our home.  But NOT for that price.  Day before yesterday,  I stumbled into the exact pattern at a fabric store in the downtown Los Angeles area.   I purchased three yards of fabric for less than $50.  Installed within one hour.

My Love for Louis Vuitton

We recently celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary and this is what my groom gave to me!  I am a huge and loyal fan of Louis Vuitton and excited to add this to my collection!  Great for protecting and storing your precious time pieces especially during travel.   Fits three!

Interior Accessories

My nightstand was a gift from my son.  It's an interpretation of bombe chests first designed in 18th-century France.   I thought the perfect place for it was next to my bedside.  It's accessorized with a few items posted here.  My favorite find among these would be the glass jar and flowers.  Bundled mini white tulips placed in a glass jar.  I don't believe I spent more than $5.00 retail and I think it makes quite a statement!

Accent Chair

A modern accent chair to compliment your living room sofa or for extra sitting in the bedroom.  I purchased this velvet fabric and silver french nails and decided to use it for this piece.  To keep it simple, I only placed the nail heads on the back side of the chair.  Usually, I like to work with fabrics of color and patterns.  This is my attempt at working outside the box.  Take a look!

Vintage Chair

I drove twenty six miles from my home to pick up this vintage piece.  I don't think I will ever forget the beauty of the street.  It was aligned with huge magnolia trees and they were in full bloom.  Purple blossoms everywhere - it was surreal!  Although she was old and unwanted, I saw the beauty!

Interiors

Below image:  my home - I couldn't resist this mirror which is a metallic gold shade.  It will eventually find it's place in the master bedroom.   To give it a different look, I placed nail heads around the side of the mirror, about a half inch apart.  Makes it a more interesting piece!

My attempt at refurbishing!

Recently, I was inspired to check out a local swap meet when I saw a story on Good Morning America about lifestyle anchor, Lara Spenser and her newly released book entitled "I Break for Yard Sales."  The story shares her talent of making old furniture look like new.  Suddenly, I was interested in finding an old piece of furniture to try my hand at refurbishing.  I found this chair and here's how it turned out...

Interior Accessories - Wingback Chair

My latest project!  The original color of this chair was deep orange.  It didn't quite go with my color scheme so I decided to reupholster!  While shopping for the perfect upholstery fabric, I had my mind set on a floral pattern and to my disappointment, with very limited selections, I settled with this embroidered fabric. As you can see below, It is used for the back side only.  I kept the front side simple using white linen.   This allows the design in the back to really stand out.  To finish it off, I used decorative nail heads to hold it together which also gives it a touch of elegance.  Despite the initial disappointment with the fabric, I am actually very pleased with how the wingback chair turned out.
